Our latest release is this stunning aquamarine cluster.

The aquamarine is a 9x7mm oval and is surrounded by 24 round brilliant diamonds and there are 12 diamonds in the shoulders. These beautiful stones are set in 18ct yellow gold - a change from the all-white we've seen recently. Our sources are saying that yellow gold is making a big comeback in Europe.

What is happening in fashion today? Colour! Vogue, Bazaar and InStyle concur, the rich hues of Rubies, Sapphires, and Emeralds are the gems of choice. Cocktail rings, Right Hand Rings, call them what you like, these are not the kind of rings you have to wait for, just ask yourself!

Our best seller this month is a glittering 18ct white gold princess cut diamond engagement ring with channel set shoulder stones. A classic style, that can be created with varying size centre stones to suit your budget.

As so often happens we Australians have a little trouble with our French pronunciation. Our point of clarity this month is the cut of diamond known as Marquise. The marquise cut was developed in France in the 18 th century by the French King Louis XV for his mistress - the Marquise de Pompadour. As it is the feminine form of the word it is pronounce “markees”. This beautiful original has a marquise flanked by trilliants.

Something a little quirky for this month: Ring Coffins, for those who need to bury a dead relationship! US - based (where else?), www.weddingringcoffin.com sells miniature caskets so that you can display discarded rings! (I think I would prefer to have mine remodelled at Cathryn Paul - but each to his own!)

Is the birthstone for November. In its natural form it is the most valuable form of quartz and is extremely rare. Most commercial citrines are heat treated amethysts. The name is derived from the French "Citron" referring to the lemon yellow colour but the colour can range from light yellow to gold-brown. According to folklore citrine helps to promote happiness and treat the symptoms of depression, constipation and diabetes. It is believed that it is an energizing stone for the issues of self-discipline, confidence, optimism and willpower. (Sounds like we should bath in it!)

In these gorgeous cocktail rings the citrine is in the top ring on the right - these rings can be created using your choice of semi-precious stones.
